CBC News has the story of two farmers from Hawaii who gave a social media presentation on Prince Edward Island in Canada. Lani and Pomai Weigert of Ali’i Kula Lavender on Maui had advice for 45 fellow farmers at a seminar yesterday.

Social media lessons for farmers

Pomai Weigert said many P.E.I. farmers are scared to throw away their old marketing techniques and join the digital age, but it’s a necessity. “If we don’t do that then we can’t bring them into the next era, and we need their skills to keep these farms going,” she said.

The story includes a five minute audio clip from the Weigerts’ presentation.

Among the social media services used by AKL Maui are an active Facebook page, Twitter account, and a YouTube channel.
